FACILITATOR and HOST

Brenda is the host and owner of the OYSTER BAY BEACH HOUSE located on BC POINTE , the home of Clarke Enterprises where she also provides professional services including life coaching,  counselling and GOVERNANCE consulting.    

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

2018 and 2019 included continued volunteer support and facilitation of fundraisers for Ladysmith Resources Centre, Rotary Volunteer for Corks n Forks, Membership Recruitment  Event and Garden Tour Volunteer Party  plus other work with other Community Services like LAFF. Brenda facilitated governance strategic plans for  Ladysmith Historical Society, Ladysmith Little Theatre, and Masters Swimming Association of BC.  Brenda enjoyed participation in the YellowPoint Choir concerts, Ladysmith Little Theatre Spring Shorts and YellowPoint Drama Group One Act Plays. 


As a Performing Arts patron and participant, Brenda loves to HOST House Concerts for the musicians and special event fundraisers.  From January 2014 to June 2019, BC POINTE  was home to over 20+ musical events including local talent like Michael Clarke (SOUL KING), Elvis Priestly/Dorian Baxter, Ryan McMahon and the LionBearFox team who also recorded an album the house in Dec, 2016. Other artists who played house concerts are Lena Bertwhistle,  a Celtic Band complete with bagpipes and talented local artists.  ROCKY (aka Brenda) is the host of  the ROCKEOKE gatherings which  facilitates  rock n roll, contemporary,  pop and soul music events with dancing; people enjoy singing, playing their own instrumentals and socializing with friends while having good food and fun.  CALL or email  to talk about use of BC POINTE as your music venue and/or make a booking to use the great room to cut your own CD.

GOVERNANCE

Brenda has co-written a book on Governance which guides her facilitation and results. She served on the Board of Directors for the Ladysmith Little Theatre from 2014 to 2017 as Front of House Director with the volunteers plus By-Laws, Operations Manual and  grant writing for LLT. As secretary on the MSABC Board of Directors for a 2 year term from 2015 to 2017, Brenda facilitated update of the Society ByLaws including provincial registration in 2017.
 

In spring/summer of 2017 Brenda facilitated Ladysmith Little Theatre Board of Directors in a Governance Strategic Planning, updated BYLAWS, and organizational development process resulting in preparation and Board approval of Strategic Plans, charts and reports to guide future decisions.

In fall/winter of 2017/2018 Brenda facilitated Ladysmith and District Historical Society Board of Directors and Management Staff in a Governance Strategic Planning and organizational development process resulting in the preparation and approvals of Strategic Plans, organization charts and reports to guide future decisions.  

BOARD DEVELOPMENT

 In spring of 2015 Brenda facilitated a Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Management Staff in a Governance Strategic Planning and organizational development process resulting in preparation and Board approval of Strategic Plans, charts, reports to guide decisions. 


In summer/fall of 2016 Brenda facilitated the MSABC  volunteers (Masters Swimming Association of British Columbia) with  the Board of Directors in a Governance Strategic Planning and organizational development process resulting in preparation and Board approval of Strategic Plans, BYLAWS, charts and reports to guide future decisions. After this 2 year term, Brenda received the President’s Award for outstanding achievement from the MSABC Board and provincial members at the AGM.
 

PAN AM GAMES WATERSKI RESULTS

Brenda began professional waterskiing at 15 years old at the Canadian National Exhibition and performed for another 15 years and still skis.  In 1979 she was the CO-Chair of the very successful World Waterski Championships.  Consequently, in July 2015, Brenda was  recognized and recruited as a RESULTS expert and participated in the area of Results and Administration at the Pan Am Games and consequently received a THANK YOU letter from the Premiere of Ontario Kathleen Wynne and Michael Coteau Minister responsible for  2015 Pan and Parapan American Games.  For one week, Brenda provided volunteer services as a Results Judge and Communications to support for sport of Waterskiing.  These games are the largest multi-sport event in Canada’s history.  Today Brenda continues to swim 3 times a week for fitness and ski when the sun is shinning and home in Orillia. 

FRIEND of ROTARY

Rotarian member – full time from 2006 to 2014 and in 2017 became a Friend of Rotary member .  Brenda served on the Board of Directors and as Chair with Community Services for  many years. She received  many Certificates of Recognition in “appreciation of her volunteer support and leadership/host for the Annual Garden Tour in May each year starting in May , 2010 to 2019.  It is an honor and hopefully  tradition now to host the Rotary Garden Tour Hosts, Volunteers and their spouse at the “Debrief chat and After Tour BBQ Appreciation Party. "
